If you live in Knoxville, TN, then you know just what a beautiful area we live in. I absolutely love getting to be a family, newborn, and maternity photographer in Knoxville! There is no shortage of scenic locations to photograph at. I even love the more quaint, charming spots here in Knoxville too. While I’m a seasoned photographer in this area, I have by no means exhausted the amazing locations offered here in East Tennessee for family photo sessions. But I did want to rally up in one post the best family photo spots in Knoxville (in my opinion) here in one post.
If you’ve been longing to invest in professional family portraits for some time, let me be of assistance. 🙂 One of my favorite ways I LOVE serving my families and couples is in meeting with them prior to their session to discuss their vision for their session- everything from outfits to the location and more! This design consultation prior to the session is one of the many ways I try to take as much off my clients plate as possible, so they know they’re getting the family portraits they’ve always envisioned and with no stress! It’s a custom, luxury experience I want everyone to experience with their family photo session!
Enjoy this list of the best family photo spots in Knoxville (in my opinion) to start brainstorming for your next session!
Knoxville Botanical Gardens
I looooove the Knoxville Botanical Gardens! Especially in the spring and summer…and the fall! I can’t forget to fall colors there too! There is so much variety offered there! I can (and have shot) so many sessions here in a short period of time, but you would never have known seeing the different images just because each part of the garden lends to a different flavor and beauty. Another reason I love these gardens is because of the architecture. There’s lots of old stone and ivy, so it looks very English inspired. I am all about anything European inspired! These gardens also sit on a large chunk of land, quite a few acres, so again, so much variety is offered. But it’s still so peaceful and lovely throughout. I have no doubt you would love these gardens if you’ve never been.
UT Gardens
Such a fun location! The UT Gardens are so much fun for littles! This would be a great spot for a family with young children who want to have a very fun session! Not too stuffy with too much posing. The gardeners & staff at the UT Gardens do a fabulous job of keeping the gardens looking amazing all year long! But it particularly is vibrant and fun around the spring & summer time. You can check out more about their gardens here.
Melton Hill Park
I love this park! It offers luscious meadows as well as gorgeous waterfront views along the Clinch River. A lot of families I’ve photographed here love both! The light here at golden hour seems to get extra glowy as it hits the tall meadow grass and goldenrod. The fields are perfect for little ones with lots of energy too. 😉 If you’re looking for a neutral backdrop but still nature-inspired, you’d love Melton Hill Park!
Your own home/yard
This location out of all the spots has to be my top favorite! Why? Because there’s no place like home! Truly! There is no better backdrop you or I can paint than your own little oasis away from the world you and your crew abide in. Your home is the sanctuary and hub of your family unit. It’s where your kiddos are growing and where you find seclusion from the rest of the world. It holds all your character, flaws, quirks, and beauty that makes your family perfectly you. And no one else can replicate that! That in and of itself is a perfect reason! But another great reason is the comfortability of your own home. Your children are going to feel far more at ease having their photograph taken in an environment they’re very familiar with. Overall, this is why I LOVE photographing in-home lifestyle family and newborn sessions. They will always hold a special place in my heart. But don’t take my word for it. They will most definitely be all the more special to you! Especially 20+ years from now. 🙂
