What’s the Big Deal with Wall Art/Custom Framing?

Nov 7, 2025

If you have followed me for a while, you know that you don’t just receive a gallery of beautiful images with your photographic experience with me. I am a full-service studio, meaning you are taken care of from booking me to ensuring your most favorite images are professionally printed and hung on your walls. So you may be wondering, “What’s the big deal about wall art/custom framing?”.

This is a really great question! I’d love to breakdown briefly just a few (of the many reasons) I believe wall art/custom framing is a big deal and WELL WORTH the investment for our lives.

Preserving Your Family Legacy

Having your family images professionally framed is one of the most meaningful ways to preserve your legacy for generations to come. These portraits are not just photographs—they are visual heirlooms that tell the story of your family’s history, love, and shared experiences. A professionally framed family image has a sense of permanence and care that a digital file or casual print simply cannot match. Over time, these pieces become cherished keepsakes that connect future generations to their roots. When a child grows up seeing portraits of their parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents displayed with honor, it fosters a deep appreciation for the family’s journey and a sense of belonging. Professional framing ensures these memories are protected from fading, damage, and the passing of time, so the legacy of your family remains tangible and alive for decades.

Fostering Family Bonds Through a Child’s Eyes

From a child’s perspective, seeing family portraits displayed proudly throughout the home can create powerful emotional bonds and a lasting sense of identity in a child. When children see themselves framed alongside their parents and siblings, it communicates love, belonging, and importance. It reminds them that they are an essential part of their family story—valued and celebrated. Professionally framed photos displayed in common spaces subtly teach children to honor and cherish their loved ones, reinforcing the idea that family comes first. These images can even spark conversations about family traditions, milestones, and memories, strengthening the connection between generations. Over time, those framed photos become comforting touchstones shaping how they view family and relationships as they grow. Just think of your own personal experience, whether it be in your own childhood home or grandparents home seeing framed images of you or your family on the walls?

Transforming Your Home Into a Personal Gallery

I think everyone wants custom art in their home! But they don’t realize how within reach and personal it truly is! Beyond the emotional value, custom-framed family pictures bring unmatched warmth and character to your home. Unlike mass-produced wall art (sorry, Hobby Lobby!), framed family portraits are deeply personal pieces of art. The craftsmanship of professional framing enhances both the beauty of the photograph and the aesthetic of your home, allowing you to choose styles, textures, and finishes that complement your decor and personality. Whether displayed in a modern gallery wall or a single timeless portrait above the fireplace, these framed pieces elevate your space with authenticity and emotional depth. They turn your house into a home. In this way, professional framing transforms ordinary photographs into art. And the best part is you NEVER regret investing in them. They only grow in more value as your family grows and changes, never depreciating. The weight and memories of each framed image on your wall only grow in value!

Why Digital Alone Isn’t Enough

In contrast, keeping your family images solely in digital form often leads to just clutter. They get buried in endless camera rolls, lost in old devices, or forgotten in cloud storage accounts that rarely get revisited. I know it’s a hard pill to swallow, but it’s true. While digital images are convenient for a quick IG post, they lack the tangible presence and emotional impact too. Scrolling through a screen doesn’t spark nostalgia that seeing a framed portrait in your hallway wall does. Digital photos just add to the noise in our already technology-saturated lives. But let me tell you – there is nothing like daily sipping your morning coffee and literally viewing on your wall your baby’s newborn portraits proudly hung up. Digital photos

Just think, how will your children 10 years from now see this years fall family portraits? How will your children and grandchildren find baby portraits 20 years from now? On an outdated or crashed hard drive? A dinosaur-old iPhone?

These are just a *few* of my thoughts (I could go on lol) on how important custom framed family portraits are in your home. As a photographer here in Knoxville, I want to help you make this a reality. And when we work together, I make this as easy as possible!
