A peaceful summer morning. A home filled with Daniel Tiger music, tiny baby coos, and the rhythm of family life.

This in-home newborn session in Knoxville, TN, with the Tiernee and her family, was one of those experiences that remind me why I love what I do. The warmth of summer morning light, the gentle flow of everyday rhythms, and the ease of being in their own space all came together to create something beautifully unposed.
There was so much that made this session sparkle with magic. Their darling toddler girl, Miller, twirled in her dress singing along to Daniel Tiger and proudly showing me her favorite stuffed animals. (This is always such a great honor when you meet a toddler’s BFF’s, aka: their pride & joy stuffies). Baby Hanks was all nestled in his Moses basket when not held close in his mother’s arms, perfectly content in the home he’ll grow up in. From nursery cuddles to front porch playtime, the day unfolded naturally—no rushing, no posing, just family connection.
When I arrived at Jeffrey and Tiernee’s home in Knoxville, the late morning sun poured softly through the windows. It felt peaceful, unhurried – how those first few weeks of the newborn bubble should feel. We began in baby Hanks’ nursery, surrounded by gentle light and sweet little details that told his story. Tiernee’s eye for styling and taste are so good! Needless to say, it was the cutest little nursery.
Miller, their toddler, instantly filled the room with her personality. We played some of her favorite songs to get her excited, and soon she was giggling, twirling, and proudly showing me her favorite stuffed animals. She was the definition of a proud big sister.
We ended the morning outside, where tall, mature trees shaded their front yard and the porch welcomed us like an old friend. Miller swung on the wooden swing while her parents gently pushed her and little Hanks snoozed away in their arms. The sound of her laughter mixed with the soft creak of the porch swing—a soundtrack to a perfect Knoxville morning.
They rocked together in their rocking chairs on the front porch, letting the slow summer air wrap around them. I quietly and softly directed when needed. But overall, it was just a family being present in their home—the truest kind of beauty.
Sessions like this remind me why I love being an in-home newborn photographer in Knoxville. There’s a certain honesty that happens when families invite me into their space. It’s personal, sacred even. Every photograph becomes a time capsule of their life in that season—the soft blankets, the favorite toys, the nursery walls that hold their dreams.
