A cozy yet magical fall in-home Knoxville maternity session, with the sweetest first-time parents.

There is something deeply sentimental about in-home sessions, and Lucita and Josh’s maternity session in their first home together captured that magic perfectly! I’ve had the privilege of photographing both Lucita and Josh’s beautiful engagement and wedding, so I was blown away when they asked me to photograph their maternity photos as well. The greatest gift of being a photographer is being able to return and document a couple or a family’s growth over the years.

Lucita and Josh’s engagement photos took place at the same venue as their wedding, nestled in the gorgeous East Tennessee winter countryside at Heartland Meadows. Their wedding followed in the spring, with lush greenery and warm lighting adding a bright and lovely feel to their photos. Fast forward to fall, and they’re expecting their first child in their charming first home and so excited to begin this new chapter.

When you book a session with me, it always begins with a design call where we decide on the feel and vibe we want to create for your photos. For this session, Lucita had the brilliant idea of going for an editorial look, with ripped jeans and a button up top. I suggested holding the session in their home, and though they were initially hesitant, they trusted me to bring the vision to life. I’m so glad they did. And I think they were too.

The natural light poured in from the windows, and made for some lovely dramatic shots, along with some gorgeous close-up bump photos. Those were some of my favorites. Lucita radiated effortless beauty, as usual, while Josh provided the sweetest support. We captured some heartwarming moments of the two of them snuggled up on the couch. We were even able to include their cat in some shots (an added bonus of an in-home session)!

In just one year, Lucita and Josh have gone from being engaged to married and now to becoming new parents. I feel so honored that they trusted me to document their journey through these transitions. Lucita and Josh wear parenthood so beautifully. To say I’m excited for them both as they embark on this new chapter is an understatement.
