Senior portraits are about so much more than just documenting the end of high school—they capture a moment of transition, personality, and the exciting future ahead. Lily’s spring senior portrait session at Victor Ashe Park in Knoxville, TN was the perfect mix of golden light, joyful moments, and meaningful connection.

This senior session was especially meaningful because Lily is someone I’ve known for several years through our church youth group. Watching her grow into the thoughtful, kind, and driven young woman she is today made documenting this milestone even more special.
We met on a warm spring evening just before sunset, when the golden hour light creates the most flattering and dreamy glow. Victor Ashe Park offered the perfect backdrop for soft, natural portraits. One of the things I admire most about Lily is her passion for helping others. She was on the cross-country team for most of her high school career and has a strong love for fitness and health. Because of that passion, she plans to pursue a career in physical therapy—which suits her perfectly. Her love for sports combined with her heart for people will make her incredible in that field.
I have NO doubt she is going to do amazing things.
Lily brought two dresses for her senior portraits, and both were absolutely perfect for the spring time. They were light, breezy, and full of soft ruffles that moved beautifully when she walked. Flowing fabrics like these photograph so well, especially during golden hour, because they add movement and texture to the images. But of course, Lily’s beautiful dark brown eyes and radiant smile made every photo shine.
Like many seniors, Lily started the session feeling a little nervous and slightly stiff in front of the camera. This is completely normal—most people aren’t used to being professionally photographed. But after about ten minutes, everything shifted. Once Lily realized how relaxed and easy the session was, she quickly warmed up. We spent the evening chatting, laughing, and cracking jokes along the way. There was no rush.
Lily also brought her mom along for the evening, which I always love. Her mom is such a gem of a person too! They have such a special mother-daughter connection. Moms are always such a great asset to have at your senior session because they are there for you if you need hair assistance, if you have a wardrobe malfunction, we make a best hype team, helping adjust outfits, offering encouragement, and celebrating every great shot.
It also makes the experience more meaningful—because senior year is a milestone for parents too.
As a Knoxville senior photographer, there are many talented photographers in this area who can take a beautiful picture. But when someone who knows you personally trusts you to document such an important milestone, it feels like a true honor. Being asked to tell Lily’s story through these portraits meant so much to me. It’s a privilege I never take lightly.
