Are you wondering what to wear to your senior session? You’re not the only one. I’m breaking down three go-to outfits that are classic for your Knoxville senior session – applies to boys or girls! I’m also sharing with you overall style principles that will apply to your unique style!

Ahhh, the struggle. What do I wear?! Am I right?

This question becomes all the more difficult to answer when you’re about to have your picture taken, and the whole photo session revolves around YOU! No pressure. 😉

Rest assured, what to wear to your senior session is more simple than you think. I don’t want you to overthink it. After 10+ years of photographing high school seniors I have a couple helpful tips for you.

Overarching & guiding style principles to follow:

• First and foremost (and I can’t stress this enough!), wear what you feel comfortable in. Wear what you feel beautiful in! Don’t go buy a dress or top just because it’s trendy or because you think it will impress your friends. If you don’t feel in the slightest awkward in it, discard it. Wear what you truly feel confident and stellar in! It will translate into your images. You’ll be fire in front of the camera!
• Secondly, don’t over do it on pattern and loads of color. I’m not saying don’t wear any color. Please do. 🙂 What we don’t want to happen is your outfit to be so busy that it detracts from you! Plus if your favorite portrait is hung in your home, we want all the colors to mesh well with your home decor.
• Lastly,

Now here are three go-to outfits you can easily plan for!

1. Timeless

For this outfit, I would wear a tried & true outfit. It’s a little more on the casual side, so it makes for a great outfit to start with! This will probably look like your favorite, lucky jeans with super cute blouse or sweater. Or maybe your go-to overalls and a classic top underneath. Or a cute white dress and jean jacket. There are so many options, but the key is not to over complicate it. Wear something timeless that you know you’ll wear again 5-10 years from now.

2. A little dressy

Let’s jazz it up a little, shall we? It’s always fun to dress up just a little and we’ll all have a fancy side inside of us! A nice button down shirt for you guys or a gorgeous flowy or fitted dress for you girls is always a great idea! And you can be guaranteed it photographs so good. This more formal outfit can beautifully infuse your unique personality.

3. Trend setter

Time to get more creative! No matter how timeless and classic we are, there’s always a cute trend that is fun to hop on to. I’m sure you have that one outfit that’s a little out there or really speaks to your unique self. Let’s showcase it and add it to your line up!
