A colorful and vivid spring wedding in Knoxville full of emotion and thoughtful details.
Lucita and Josh have a truly unique and beautiful love story that made capturing their wedding day so fun and special. Lucita and Josh have known each other since junior high but didn’t enter into a relationship until their early 20’s. It’s fascinating to me how people can circle each other their whole lives, yet a relationship doesn’t spark until later. This is Lucita and Josh’s story, and their sentimental Knoxville spring wedding told it so beautifully.
I’ve known Lucita for a few years now, and we first met at a bible study we used to host at our house. She is such a warm and bubbly personality, and always up for a good time. I remember she used to show up straight off of her shift at Chick-fil-a, sometimes still in uniform! As the months passed, we began to hear about a guy named Josh. While I don’t know him as well as Lucita, it became apparent that Josh was the perfect balance to Lucita’s outgoing personality. He is very sweet, a little reserved, and the perfect match for Lucita. I was so honored they thought of me to be their wedding photographer after their engagement. We even captured their engagement session at their wedding venue, Heartland Meadows!
Just like Lucita, their wedding radiated vibrancy, warmth, and beauty! Lucita is originally from Arizona and has Native American heritage that she infused throughout all of the lovely details. She chose a color palette of turquoise and orange, adding lots of color that I loved photographing. The moccasins she wore with her wedding dress were custom made, as were her husband Josh’s (a wedding gift from Lucita to him!), and her beautiful turquoise necklace was vintage.
From the moment I arrived the morning of the wedding I felt such a buzz in the air, especially in the bridal suite. Lucita was surrounded by her closest friends and Josh’s cousins while getting ready. One of the sweetest moments of the wedding was when Josh’s mom got emotional seeing Lucita in her dress for the first time, as well as Lucita’s first look with her dad (full of hugs and of course, tears). It’s these moments of love on display that make wedding days so special. Not just between the bride and groom, but amongst all of the different relationships being celebrated that day. I always try to capture these genuine, heartfelt interactions without forcing anything.
Lucita was a glowing bride, the smile never left her face, and her excitement and joy radiated from her. Josh mirrored this as well, and together they were the picture of pure bliss. I’m sure you’ll see it in the images. Here are some of my favorite moments from the day, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
